Looking for something to do outdoors?

Florida Power & Light is offering Brevard Residents a “Solar Staycation” with free timed-entry admission to Brevard Zoo on Saturday, July 25.

In the kangaroo walkabout in the zoo’s “Lands of Change: Australia and Beyond” attraction, the mob of marsupials enjoy lounging in the shade of three solar trees that draw 10.2kW of power from the sun. That’s enough to help power the komodo dragon building nearby.

FPL’s “Solar Staycation” program helps support zoos throughout Florida, and gives customers an opportunity to enjoy the Sunshine State – both in person and virtually.

The program’s free virtual offerings include videos from zoos around Florida, downloadable coloring pages and solar backgrounds for virtual meetings.

500 free timed-entry Brevard Zoo tickets for Saturday are available for FPL customers who RSVP in advance at solarnow.fpl.com/solarstaycation. The free “Solar Staycation” tickets are only available through that link, none will be available at the zoo. But you’ll need to act quickly: The deadline to reserve tickets is Thursday, July 23 at 5 p.m.

There is a limit of four tickets per family, and they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

For more details about the program, visit solarnow.fpl.com/solarstaycation.
