Yuliang's new drone photos! You can see the Slash Yuliang's new drone photos! You can see the Slash Pine trees and Saw Palmettos in the 2 northern basins which are one foot higher than the 4 southern basins. The 1944 aerial photo belongs to the Brevard County EEL program. It seems that Mother Nature is healing the land and making it look a lot like the way it was before the rapid infiltration basins were dug between 1985 and 1990! The water treatment plant was used from 1990 to 1996. There were no houses around here then.

You are invited to Sunset in the Hollows this Sunday, March 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Come enjoy a lovely nature walk. The entrance is at 1170 Rock Springs Dr. Behind the empty lot.

Sat morning, March 4, from 9:00 a.m. to noon is an Sat morning, March 4, from 9:00 a.m. to noon is another community service work opportunity. Please come help restore the habitat by cutting down invasive plants, watering the garden, and pulling weeds! We had a good turnout 2 weeks ago when several families from Mandarin Lakes cut down invasive Brazilian Pepper trees. Students can earn Bright Futures hours. We recommend wearing long pants, close-toed shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and work gloves. Bring a water bottle and lopper or pruners if you have some. We have a port-a-potty on site. #restorethehabitat

Dune sunflowers are still blooming after the cold Dune sunflowers are still blooming after the cold weather we had here last week! Fresh Gopher Tortoise tracts outside multiple burrows today. If you haven’t seen our educational trial signs yet you should come out January 1st when we are open from 10 am to 3 pm, to start out 2023 in nature at Hundred Acre Hollows and learn something new while doing it!
