The preserve is open to the public every Sunday for 2 hours before sunset.

(Parking available on the street or at the Springs of Suntree’s Clubhouse)

Preserve’s rules:

• Please stay on the trails, do not go inside the basins (this is only for wildlife).
• Do not walk on the burrows sandy apron or above the arch as it could collapse.
• Never put your hands in a burrow!
• Wear sturdy shoes and watch your steps. The Gopher tortoises are always digging new burrows and the trails evolve with them.
• Do not feed or approach wildlife.
• Bring water and sun protection as there is little shade in the preserve.
• No pets allowed.
• No drone.
• No bicycle on the trails (bike rack at the entrance available).
• No smoking/vaping.
• Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints.
• Gopher tortoises and their burrows are protected under Florida Law. Do not touch or pick up a Gopher tortoise, watch them from a distance. If you see a Gopher tortoise in trouble, warn the staff.
• Children under 16 must be accompanied by a legal guardian 18 and older.
