Cogon Grass is a tall grass that is highly invasive. It is a bright almost Chartreuse green. The back of the stalks is rough, kind of like Velcro. The rib is off center. Lawnmowers spread it to other areas. The roots grow very deep and spread. There are about 8 areas in Hundred Acre Hollows with Cogon Grass. We must have this sprayed with herbicide later this summer, or it could spread all over.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit acting as caretakers to 114 acres of land in Brevard County. Our vision is to use this land to discover, study, and teach about Florida’s plants and animals to help sustain and enrich lives.
